Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By using Scio.ly (the "Service") you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you are under 13, use the Service only with the permission of a parent, guardian or your school.

2. The Service

Scio.ly provides practice questions, tests, AI-generated explanations, team and coaching tools, and leaderboards for Science Olympiad preparation. The Service is provided "as is" and changes over time. AI-generated explanations and grades can be wrong; check them against reliable sources.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information and use an email address you control.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person per account; don't share or sell accounts.

4. Fair play

Leaderboards, Ions and team results only mean something if everyone plays fairly. You agree not to:

  • Use scripts, bots or automated tools to answer questions or to send requests to the Service.
  • Report scores or activity you did not earn, or otherwise manipulate leaderboards, Ions or team results.
  • Exploit bugs or security weaknesses. If you find one, please report it to us instead.
  • Attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours, or disrupt the Service for others.
  • Post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful or impersonates others.

If we believe these rules have been broken, we may remove scores, remove you from leaderboards, or suspend or close the account. Automated checks may remove an account from leaderboards; account suspensions are reviewed by a person. If you think we made a mistake, contact us and we will review it.

5. Teams and coaches

When you join a team, its captains and coaches can see your practice activity and assignment results, as described in our Privacy Policy. Coaches are responsible for using team tools appropriately with their students.

6. Content

The Service and its original content, features and design belong to Scio.ly and its licensors. Content you submit, such as custom tests, team posts, edits and reports, remains yours; you give us permission to store, display and use it to operate and improve the Service.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that questions, explanations or grades are accurate.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Scio.ly and the people who build it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated Terms.
